Arvid Smit


For Arvid Smit, football has been a constant thread throughout his life. As a professional footballer, he was active from 1999 to 2011 with, among others, Telstar, FC Volendam, De Graafschap, FC Groningen and Willem II, as well as União Leiria and Marítimo, both competing in the top Portuguese division. The midfielder was known for his vision and technical ability. After his playing career, he moved into coaching and developed step by step at various amateur clubs and within the KNVB. In recent years, he served as assistant head coach of the Netherlands women’s national team. In 2025, he made the move to the English FA as assistant to Sarina Wiegman.
